How far in advance should I schedule?
As soon as you can. The holiday season books up quick with Saturdays being the busiest. Generally speaking weekends always book up first, year round. In the summer you will need to book your session in the late afternoon/evening because of the heat and sun.
How long will the session be?
Events, Engagement, Mini Sessions and Weddings are usually my only timed sessions. Generally speaking I try not to put a time limit on sessions. I am willing to accommodate any time restrictions you have.
What is the best time of day for a session?
The best light is early morning and late afternoon/evening. Indoors the best lighting is early morning or mid afternoon. Also, remember in the summer months shade and the evening are your friends. If you have small children please remember to schedule around the nap time and feeding time because a happy child takes a much better photograph.
Best time to photograph expectant Mother's?
I recommend your portraits be done between 30 and 35 weeks.
How do I choose a location?
I have locations I use regularly and can offer suggestions or you can let me know what you are looking for and I can scout some locations. The best locations are parks, beaches, gardens, and downtown areas. If you have a particular location you want to use I am open to that. If it is a private location you must get permission for us to shoot there.
What to wear?
Your choice of clothing can make or break your session. Please take time before the day of your session to decide what to wear. Solid colors like jeans and khaki with white, black and different colors of blue are a classic look. Bright colors photograph well, think Easter egg colors. Try to stay away from busy patterns or large logos. If you want to wear stripes try to go with a thicker stripe. Sequins can be a problem if you are shooting in the sun so please be aware of that on little girls. Layers can add a fun look to your session. Boots photograph well but a family going barefoot does too. It is always best to go with what makes you comfortable so you are relaxed, happy and ready to smile!
